Supplies:
Gift box
Newspaper or reusable brown paper bags
Clear tape
Roll of jute twine
Oranges or other citrus fruit
Oven-safe parchment paper
Baking sheet
Other garden-inspired embellishments - dried flowers, dried herb bundles, cinnamon sticks, potato stamp art
Directions for Dehydrating Oranges:
Preheat oven to 200°F and line a baking sheet with oven-safe parchment paper
Slice oranges thinly (about ⅛ - ¼ inch per slice) and pat both sides dry with a paper towel
Evenly space slices on baking sheet and bake at 200°F for 2-3 hours, making sure to flip the slices every 30 mins
Note: If your slices are not drying, take the sheet out of the oven to let them cool off, then try putting them back in the oven at 200°F, flipping them every 20 mins until dry
Remove sheet from oven and allow the slices to cool completely
Poke a hole near the peel of the orange to string your twine through later
Directions for Gift Wrapping:
Cut a reusable brown paper bag to size or use newspaper to wrap your gift in, and secure with clear tape
Cut a length of twine long enough to wrap around the gift box lengthwise and widthwise, leaving an extra 4-6 inches of length
Place the gift down onto the table so that the bottom is now facing you
Slide the twine under the box, keeping the ends about equal in length on both sides
Pull the twine up the sides and cross it in the center
Pull both ends 90° so that they interlock and create a “+” on the box
Carefully flip the box so that the top now faces up
Pull the twine over the top of the box and tie a knot to secure it in place
Grab your dried orange slice and string the twine through, then tie another knot
Tie a bow and trim off any excess twine
